Conclusion/Group 5

This conclusion is regarding Capital punishment being a moral and ethical concern.

Regardless of an inmate’s religious or racial background, if they have taken a life then all can agree that this behavior must not be tolerated. Whether they deserve to die for this crime is a question not easily answered. People have strong ethical beliefs and feel obligated to take a stand, whether it is for religious beliefs, racial disparity, or a defendant’s right to a fair trial. Yet, when it comes to the moral and ethical concern of capital punishment, there is still one fact that remains. As long as one human being feels the right to take the life of another, this ethical debate between life in prison and the death penalty will never come to an end. All eyes are on the accused as he lies strapped to a table; he watches the executioner push the poison into his veins and then all is finished.

  1. This is a very powerful conclusion. It was put together very nicely and kept my attention. I like the last sentence particularly because of the detail you give, it put the picture in my head. I agree that the debate between either life in prison or the death penalty will never come to an end. Unfortunately, there will never be one set sentence for each person that commits murder.

  2. I really like the last sentence as a clincher--wow! (I hope everyone reads it!) I would, however, recommend more transitions, just to clarify what your main points were in the essay itself. A conclusion at the beginning of the paragraph would help, too.

  4. Great last sentence! It was the high light of the conclusion! From reading this I feel like I could picture what the rest of the essay would be like. Along with restating your topic sentences in the conclusion, you did a great job re-explaining some of the topics. You did a very good job! This gave me a great understanding on how a conclusion should be written, considering that is one of my weak points in writing!

  5. I must say this is a very powerful paragraph. As Brian mentioned, the conclusion would have given an even stronger impact if you put it at the top. It would have been a great attention getter and the reader would have a better understanding of your point. The attention for detail was great. overall I think you did well. good job.

  6. Wow, your paragraph ends really well. I also liked how you stated that there will be most likely a continued debate on which is morally right. I was able to see your points and I would have continued to have read more about that subject. You did a very nice job.
