Group 2 Assignment 2- Body Paragraph

This would be an example of a body paragraph from an essay on baseball. Thesis being baseball is fun to watch on television,.

Baseball is also better to watch on television because of the announcers. The announcer is very knowledgeable about the game and can give play by play details. Even if someone isn’t a big baseball fan the game is easier to watch and understand on television because the announcers explain different plays. They tell who is doing well with hitting, who has lots of mistakes, and even about some off the field things like injuries. Sometimes the announcers do fun things like make comments on crowd shots. For instance the Minnesota Twins announcer Bert has a following of people who make signs that say, “Circle me Bert”. These signs make the television watcher feel more included in the game. Announcers make watching the game easier at home because of the sound. It is possible to multitask and leave the room if need be but still hear what is going on with the game. There are so many reasons why the announcer really helps to make baseball better on television.

  1. I couldn't imagine watching a baseball on TV without commentary. Don't you think if there won't be any commentary than many of us prefer to go and watch baseball in the stadium rather than watching at TV? I think sometimes, when the game is boring commentators starts talking about some funny and interesting stuff just to keep our attention and interest in the game. You did good job pointing out importance of announcer in baseball game.

  2. I love the paragraph! I think you guys did an awesome job on completing the paragraph. Your examples that support the essay are great and it really completes the readers thought, it does not leave them "hanging" wondering what the writer is trying to say.

  3. You make some very good points about commentary during a baseball game. This paragraph would probably fit right into a paper about watching baseball on television. I did see you missed a comma after "For example" however.

  4. This is a really good paragraph--I can clearly see three distinct examples here. As far as improvement goes, I might add a stronger transition for the third point. By the way, it really helped that you gave us your topic and thesis. Thanks.

  5. I like to watch baseball on tv too. Your examples are really well thought out and easy for your readers to understand. The off field commentating is really nice, I wouldn't have thought about it if I had chosen this topic. I can tell you spent a lot of time on your statements of evidence.

  6. Your paragraph was really good. A few missing comma's I think, but really good. I could completely understand why you prefer to watch baseball on TV. I agree that if I am going to watch professional baseball, I want to watch it on TV, as the close-up seats are too expensive to buy and I can see everything on the TV. Then I read your paragraph and find other good reasons to watch baseball on TV. I will remember that next time I watch a game.

  7. You did a good job on this paragraph. You make everything very clear and I can pick out each thing that we were suppose to include. It is simple yet complex in that you included everything in a very smooth transitional way! Also, I think i might just go watch me a good game of baseball tonight and listen to the annoucner to know what is going on!!

  8. This a very well put together paragraph. Nice job! Very good points about a baseball announcer. I agree that watching a game on mute would probably keep my attention for maybe 5 minutes. A lot of times when you are watching at the stadium, if you dont' sit close enought it's almost difficult to see which player is where. This paragraph has very strong supporting details, and conclusion sentence.

  9. Some sports are alright without the volume, but I'm with you on this one. The announcers make it much more entertaining, especially since there is so much downtime. I can tell this is a topic you have a real interest in. By reading your paragraph, it seems that you could easily write a good, complete essay on the enjoyment of baseball.

  10. I do agree with you to a certain extent. Dick and Bert are probably the only announcers that I can listen to for extended periods of time. But when you throw Tim McCarver in the mix spewing his nonsense, then I just have to mute it. Good points though, this would be a great body paragraph for an essay!
