Group 5 body paragraph
One of the struggles with a career in Interior design in today’s society is the ability to find a job. With the economy in the state that it is in, not many people have the money or desire to spend hundreds of dollars renovating their homes. Their hard earned money is spent more so on necessities rather than luxuries. House payments, phone bills, groceries, and much more all come before painting the walls in your kitchen. In a time like thins, “needs” come before “wants.” For the more fortunate ones who have a steady income, updating the style of your home may not be such hesitation. However, the number of interior designers has a direct opposite correlation with the number of people remodeling their homes; that is, the number of interior designers and design firms is increasing, but the number of individuals seeking their services is decreasing. This is just one of the many struggles that an Interior Designer may face in today’s society.

This is a good breakdown of one of the many professions that are hurting with things the way they are these days. Its interesting to look at how and why one thing affects another and all in all leads to a "bad economy." I assume that you chose this topic because you actually are an interior design student struggling to find a job?
ReplyDeleteI think your analysis is particularly strong here. The explanation is quite good. I would work with more concrete transitions within the paragraph and have more definitive, concrete examples.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of going to school for this...then i dont know what happend...It would be a really fun job but i can definitley understand where your coming from. It is very true a lot of people put their needs before their wants these days. Is this what your goignt to school for?

ReplyDeleteThis is a great focus on one of the issues of this particular profession. You did a nice job with supporting evidence, good details. You are very right; people do put their needs before their wants. Does the same correlation occur when a lot of people are remodeling their homes? Or, do you think the bad economy is having a great effect on the number of people who are remodeling; however, the number of interior designers is staying at it's usual numbers. All in all I think you have a strongly supported body paragraph. Good job!
